June 12, 2016 – Worcester, MA. – Lock 50 Restaurant and Café won Eat Boston’s Beast in Show at the 2016 Boston Bacon and Beer Festival held at Fenway Park.
“Being part of this event is special because there are so many creative and excellent chefs. We created an awesome entry and I am really proud of our entire team,” said Executive Chef Tim Russo.
Chef Russo’s dish Bacon Country Pate with Bloody Mary Gel and Micro Arugula bested more than 45 other restaurants in the 7th annual competition.
“We really brought home the bacon today,” exclaimed Edward Russo, co-owner of Lock 50 and uncle of Chef Russo. “I want to thank Eat Boston for the special invitation they extended to us as the only Worcester-based restaurant included in the competition. This award proves that Worcester is clearly a big part of the culinary revolution that is happening all around Massachusetts, he added.
As the Beast of Show Winner, Lock 50 was awarded $750 to the charity of their choice. Lock 50 chose Why Me / Sherry’s House, a Worcester-based organization providing support and temporary housing to children and families fighting cancer.
The Festival brings together chefs and brewers from the Metro Boston area to Fenway Park and serves as a fundraiser for the Red Sox Foundation as well as meal delivery programs such as Community Servings and Lovin Spoonfuls.
